Celebrity morsels: Liz Hurley’s organics, Kate’s healthy food for 10 and Matt Damon’s triathlon
Elizabeth Hurley plans organic food line
Elizabeth Hurley was features in the October issue of Health magazine talking about her organic farm, which she shares with pigs, cows, chickens and sheep. But apparently her organic aspirations go beyond feeding her family: She tells People magazine that she’s starting a line of organic, low fat foods.
She says choosing healthy, organic foods may help prevent breast cancer and other health issues facing women. She already promotes a line of bacon produced by the pigs on her farm.
Sophia Bush stays slim with a healthy attitude
Actress Sophia Bush from “One Tree Hill” was on the cover of that same issue of Health, talking about how she treats her health like a science project and is doing all she can to prevent future health problems. She has a trainer, does yoga and boxes, but also loves to eat bread and pasta and wouldn’t sacrifice them to lose weight.
She says her health goal is “to be able to hike the mountains of California with my grandkids,” so she’s doing what she needs to do now (at age 26) to keep herself healthy for the long haul.
Kate Gosselin shares brown-bagging tips
Supermom Kate Gosselin from “John and Kate Plus 8″ has teamed up with the Grain Foods Foundation to encourage brown bagging and eating more grains. She recently talked to Lil Sugar about how she feeds her family of 10 healthily.
She say’s they’ve always been fans of packed lunches (as you’ll see if you watch the show) and she tries to incorporate more whole grains in the kids’ diets through healthy snacks like crackers and pretzels. The family also buys organic when they can and saves money with coupons, bulk buys and not buying things they don’t need. She also says there are no picky eaters in her family because they’ve always eaten a variety of foods and there’s no option to eat something else.
Matt Damon tries a triathlon
Matt Damon recently took part in the Escape to Miami Triathlon, and though his finish wasn’t impressive he says he’s eager to get back in shape after gaining weight for a movie role.
“I’ve got to get in shape for the next thing I’m doing,” he told People magazine. His brother, Kyle, finished 27th in the race, but Matt took almost an hour to complete the 6.2-mile running portion of the event.
