“The Biggest Loser: Couples” episode three: Temptations and a controversial elimination
Temptations at home and on the ranch

The at-home contestants expressed how hard it was to avoid all the food temptations. Although they missed their favorite foods, it appeared as if they were making the right choices.
At the “Biggest Loser” ranch, Alison met the contestants with a temptation challenge. Alison told the contestants they could eat as much or as little as they wanted, and she said their partners were given the exact same challenge; however, they wouldn’t know how much their partners ate until the end of the challenge, and the team who ate the most calories won the privilege to train with their trainer and partner at home.
The thought of getting to go home for awhile weighed on the contestants’ minds as they eyed the foods in front of them, but the only teams who consumed calories were the blue team and the silver team.
While Filipe chose not to eat anything, his partner, Sione, ate 960 calories. Sione said he ate because he needed to see Filipe again and work out with Bob. As for the silver team, Joelle was tempted enough to take a bite out of a doughnut, but she spit it out before swallowing. Carla, on the other hand, consumed a whopping 2,710 calories! Because Carla consumed the most calories, she and Joelle won the temptation challenge.
After the food temptation, Bob entered the gym to check on his team. Joelle was excited when she told Bob about challenge, but Bob didn’t appear too excited about the news of going to Detroit to train Joelle and Carla.
Training and frustration
Later, Bob arrived in Detroit and wasted no time telling Carla that Joelle hadn’t been doing well at the ranch. Carla wasn’t happy to hear about Joelle not pulling her weight, but she didn’t say too much to Joelle.
During their workout with Bob, Joelle shouted at Carla throughout the entire workout, and Carla shouted back letting Joelle know just how she felt about her not giving it her all. Finally, Bob stepped in and let both of the ladies know they needed to communicate better and trust one another.
Soon after the drama between Joelle and Carla, Bob called the ranch to see how his team had been doing without him. They told him they were doing well but missed him. He told them to hang in there and said he’d be back soon.
During dinner with Bob, Carla let Joelle know they needed to band together as a team, but Carla felt like she wasn’t getting through to Joelle. Of course, Carla had a reason to feel that way, because Joelle stayed quiet and rolled her eyes when Carla confronted her.
Bob tried to get Joelle to respond to what Carla had said, but Joelle didn’t have a whole lot to say, so Bob told Carla she made her point, and then the three of them toasted to Joelle and Bob getting through the weigh-in, which Bob told Joelle he was confident they’d do.
Good medical news and a jumping challenge

Blaine met with the doctor and learned that he no longer needed the several medications he was on before he began his journey to weight loss. Next was Ron, who was proud to be down to one bottle of pills instead of the several he’d been taking.
The “Biggest Loser” contestants met Alison for a classic challenge. Alison told them all they had to do was jump over a beam as it came toward them, but if they missed and broke the beam, they were out. The last person standing won immunity at the weigh-in.
Joelle didn’t even make the first jump. Next out was Ron. After two hours, it was down to Kristin and Tara. Finally, two hours and 19 minutes passed, and Tara won immunity.
Last chances and a disputed elimination
During the last-chance workout, Joelle continued to fall behind her team but didn’t give up. Bob told Mike he was going to work him out until he cried. Bob kept his word and pushed hard. At the end of an intense workout with Mike, Bob asked Mike if he was crying. Mike told Bob he wasn’t crying, but Bob wasn’t convinced.
The contestants headed to the scales for their third weigh-in, and Alison let them know they only had to survive two more weigh-ins to bring their teammates back.
- Tara, who won immunity, lost eight pounds.
- Helen lost six pounds (2.53 percent).
- Mandi lost eight pounds (3.27 percent).
- Joelle lost six pounds (2.04 percent).
- Filipe lost 14 pounds (4.14 percent).
- Together, Mike and Ron lost 20 pounds (2.68 percent). Alone, Mike 11 lost pounds and Ron lost nine pounds.
- Together, Blaine and Dane lost 30 pounds (4.21 percent). Alone, Blaine lost 12 pounds and Dane lost 18 pounds.
- Damien lost four pounds (1.13 percent).
- Dan lost 15 pounds (3.56 percent).
- Kristin lost seven pounds (2.11 percent).
The “Biggest Loser” contestants headed back to the ranch to decide whether to send Damien or Joelle home. Tara asked Joelle if she wanted to stay, but Joelle hesitated. Jillian’s team talked it out and decided they’d vote to send Joelle home, which they were sure was a decision that Bob’s team would agree with. In the end, though, Damien was the one sent home.
Since Damien and Nicole’s time on “The Biggest Loser” ranch, Damien has lost a total of 74 pounds, and Nicole has lost 76 pounds.
