“The Biggest Loser: Couples” teams prepare to lose partners again

Ron told Mike the needed to sit down with Bob to find out what they’re doing wrong and change their routine. Mike told his son they could have gone home the previous week if they’d been up against anyone other than Carla and Joelle. Mike agreed with his father, and later the two of them chatted with Bob.

Standing up for a big reward

Alison entered the ranch and led the “Biggest Loser” contestants outside for their “Pop Challenge.” She told them they had to balance on one foot on a block. The last one standing without losing his or her balance won the chance to spend time with a loved one for 24 hours, and that loved one came to the “Biggest Loser” ranch.

With a great reward up for the taking, the contestants struggled to keep their balance on the block. In less than 30 seconds, both Ron and Mike lost their balance and were out. Kristin, Dane, Tara and Cathy were the next contestants to lose their balance. Then Helen lost fell off her block, and in the process, she knocked her daughter, Shanon, off her block as well. Ten minutes later it came down to Mandi, Aubrey, Filipe and Blaine.

Mandi really wanted to see her husband, so she convinced her partner and her competitors to step off their blocks and give her the reward.

Tough workouts mean big calorie burn

Later, Bob took his team outdoors for a yoga session while Jillian had her team working out in the gym. Jillian felt Laura wasn’t giving her best during her workout, so she called Tara over and instructed her to slap Laura in the face if she didn’t show more enthusiasm and do the workout correctly.

Laura must not have wanted her partner smacking her around (who would?), because she completed the workout the way Jillian wanted her to from the beginning.

After a relaxing yoga session, Bob had his team walk three miles to Subway. Once the “Biggest Loser” contestants arrived at Subway, Bob had another surprise up his sleeve: he told them they were going to hike to another Subway two miles down the road.

When they arrived at the second Subway, they were tired, but relieved when Bob led them inside to order. As the contestants enjoyed a low-calorie meal, they expressed how much they loved how they could walk the calories off before they ate, and that’s when Bob laughed and said he loved the fact that they’d have to walk the five miles back. Good ole’ Bob, you just gotta love him.

Holding on for immunity

For their endurance challenge, which took place during the night, the “Biggest Loser” contestants teamed up with their partners and held a bar over their heads; one member was on one end of the bar and their partner was on the other end.

An hour passed, and everyone was still in the game, so Alison told made things more challenging when she told them they could no longer switch arms as they held the bar. A few minutes later, Filipe and Sione lost their focus and were the first team out. Next out were Mike and Ron.

Three hours later it was down to Tara and Laura, as well as Kristin and Cathy. After four hours of holding the beam with one arm, Laura was beginning to feel the pain, but Tara knew they needed immunity and was determined to fight the pain and exhaustion.

In an attempt to end the pain, Laura and Tara tried to make a deal with Cathy and Kristin, but the ladies declined the deal. Eventually, Laura and Tara dropped the bar, which gave Cathy and Kristin immunity at the next weigh-in.

Reunions and last chances

Mandi cried tears of joy when her husband greeted her with a hug and kiss. A few minutes later, Mandi’s boys knocked on the door and surprised her. Of course Mandy gathered her kids in her arms and showered them with kisses. Soon after the emotional reunion, Mandy introduced her family to her fellow competitors, and then she took her husband and kids to the gym to give them a taste of what she goes through.

At last-chance workout, Bob was determined to keep Ron and Mike above the yellow line. Even though the intense workout brought Mike to tears, he completed it.

While Bob working Mike hard, Jillian had her team lifting weights and running on the treadmills. With encouragement from Jillian, each of them sweated away a ton of calories. Well, everyone but Mandi, who begged Jillian to let her spend time with her husband and kids while they were there.

Mandi’s tears and pleading didn’t surprise Jillian. Although reluctant, Jillian did allow Mandy to skip her last-chance workout to be with her family.

Weighing in and losing partners again

The “Biggest Loser” contestants headed to the scales for another weigh-in. Before Alison began the weigh-in, she told the contestants only one team would fall below the yellow line, and one member from that team would be sent home. Just when they reunited as couples they’re given the news that they’ll have to split up again, but once they’re sent home this time, it will be permanent.

Because Kristin and Cathy won immunity at the endurance challenge, they weighed in first.

Despite all her hard work, Kristin gained two pounds. As for her partner, Cathy, she lost four pounds. The shocking results left Kristin and Cathy grateful for the immunity.

  • Together, Helen and Shanon lost 10 pounds, a total percentage of 2.16%.
  • Laura and Tara lost a combined total of 14 pounds, which gave them a total percentage of 2.85%.
  • Together, Filipe and Sione lost 21 pounds, a total percentage of 3.37%.
  • Blaine and Dane lost a combined nine pounds, which gave them a total percentage of 1.41%.
  • Mandi and Aubrey lost seven pounds, which gave them a percentage of 1.57%.

Did Mike and Ron fall below the yellow line for the third week in a row? Fortunately, their combined weight loss of 18 pounds saved them and left Bob smiling. Mike and Ron’s total percentage of weight loss this week was 2.59%.

The final decision

The contestants headed back to the ranch to discuss whether they wanted to send Dane or Blaine home. Blaine made things easier for them when he asked them to send him home instead of Dane, but they weren’t sure if they really wanted to send Blaine home.

After having a tough time trying to decide whether to send Dane or Blaine home, the “Biggest Loser” contestants met with Alison in the elimination room to cast their votes. Though the decision wasn’t an easy one, the majority of the contestants gave Blaine what he’d asked for.

After Blaine left “The Biggest Loser” ranch, he continued to work hard and has lost a total of 86 pounds.

This episode of “The Biggest Loser” was the 100th episode since the show began in 2004, and more than 15,000 pounds have been lost by contestants in that time. Congratulations all.
