The blue team returned from elimination and announced they sent Dane home. As expected, Mike was happy that his dad was given more time on “The Biggest Loser” ranch. As for Kristin, Cathy and Ron, they made an pact to stick together.

Healthier fast food

Soon after everyone learned about Dane, they received a lesson on fast food from Chef Rocco DiSpirito. Contestants, as well as us at-home viewers, learned just how bad fast food really can be as Rocco revealed the shocking nutritional facts on several fast food items.

Moments after the eye-opening lesson on fast food, Rocco instructed the contestants to make a healthier version of the fast foods he had just discussed. The “Biggest Loser” teams had 30 minutes to prepare their dishes, and the team with the best tasting dishes won dinner cooked by Rocco and an extra vote to use at the elimination.

The teams began to prepare their dishes, but many of them struggled. Some wondered if they would finish their dishes in the 30 minutes that Rocco had given them, and others — well, it looked as if they needed a lesson on how to operate an oven.

In the end, though, everyone managed to finish their dishes in time for Rocco to taste them and announce the winner. Since Rocco preferred more of the dishes from the black team, the black team won the challenge. Therefore, each member from the black team got to choose a fortune cookie to determine who would get the extra vote, and Laura drew the lucky fortune cookie.

Later, the black team enjoyed the healthy fried chicken dinner that Rocco cooked for them. Actually, though, the chicken was rolled in a breaded batter and baked in the oven rather than fried. As the black team enjoyed the dinner, the blue team entered and had to wash the black team’s dishes.

Workouts and healthy check-ins

Bob led his team to a boxing gym and let them know they would be participating in an “Everlast Shadow Boxing Workout.” Once Bob and the blue team arrived at the gym, Sugar Ray Leonard greeted them. After Leonard gave a brief, motivational speech, he assisted the blue team with their boxing workout, which they all enjoyed.

Dr. Huizenga, the “Biggest Loser” physician, visited with Mike, Tara, Mandi and Ron. He had good news for all four of the “Biggest Loser” contestants. Huizenga told Mike that he lost more than 100 pounds of fat, and he let Tara know that she had lost more than 34 percent of her body weight.

As for Mandi and Mike, Mandi’s physical age had improved and Ron’s diabetes was now under control. In fact, he told Ron he didn’t need as much insulin as he used to.

Jillian sat down to talk with Sione. She knew he probably felt lost without Bob, so she promised Sione all her attention. With that, Jillian and Sione headed to the gym to burn some calories, and as promised, Jillian gave Sione all her attention while the rest of her team worked out on their own. Then, as Sione was working with Jillian on a bench, he slipped and hurt his ankle. Jillian sat with him until the medical team delivered the ice pack she had requested.

A challenge for a cause

For the “Biggest Loser” contestants’ challenge this week, Alison took them to a food bank in Los Angeles. Once inside, Alison explained that they had to make 150 kits full of food and then load the kits onto trucks. Before they began, Alison told them that the trucks they would load the kits onto to would take the food to hungry children.

Finally, the winning team not only won letters from home and a year’s worth of free groceries from General Mills, but they would also be featured on Cheerios boxes.

The black team had a great head start, but eventually the blue team caught up and it was a race to the finish! Increasing their speed, the black team took the lead again and won the challenge, but the blue team didn’t stop, they finished loading their remaining nine kits onto the truck to help feed the children.

Soon after the challenge, members from the black team read their letters from home. As usual, the letters reminded them of everything they were missing at home. Although they missed home, each of them remembered why there were there and it motivated them to continue their journeys to weight loss.

Moments after Mike enjoyed his letter from home, he decided to share a part of his reward with Aubrey. Mike knew Aubrey had five children at home to take care of and was upset because her team lost the challenge, so he paid her a visit and offered to give his year’s worth of groceries to her; he knew with five children she needed the groceries more.

Frustration at the last chance

Jillian visited her team to learn about their challenge. When they informed her that Laura had sat out of the challenge, Jillian couldn’t understand how Laura, who was young and had no injuries, was the one who sat out of the challenge.

“The Biggest Loser” contestants headed to the gym for another last-chance workout. Jillian’s frustration with Laura grew during the workout, so Jillian asked the entire team who the weakest link on their team was, and they all named Laura.

Jillian then told Laura she had the ability if she would just do it, but Laura was so upset with what Jillian had done that she left the gym in tears. Jillian admitted what she did to Laura was mean but felt it was necessary.

Weighing in together

“The Biggest Loser” contestants headed to the scales for another weigh-in. As they arrived, Alison let them know that for the first time in “Biggest Loser” history they would not be weighing in against each other. Instead, she said they would weigh in with each other.

This new twist gave them the opportunity to win immunity for everyone, but in order for them to win immunity, they would have to lose a combined total of more than 77 pounds. The catch: if they came in at 77 pounds or below, they would have to send one person from each team home.

  • Helen lost five pounds.
  • Mandi lost eight pounds.
  • Sione lost three pounds.
  • Aubrey lost eight pounds.
  • Laura lost seven pounds.
  • Ron lost six pounds.
  • Tara lost 11 pounds.
  • Kristin lost nine pounds.
  • Filipe lost eight pounds.
  • Cathy lost three pounds.

Since Mike was the last person to step on the scale, Alison told him he had to lose at least nine pounds for everyone to win immunity. Will Mike save the entire team or will he fall short? Tune in to “The Biggest Loser: Couples” next Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern to find out.
